Ferguson Center Volunteer Opportunities

Ferguson Center has a corps of dedicated volunteers, and there are always opportunities to join our team! Interested individuals should have a love of the performing arts, enjoy working with the public, be a team player, and partner with us in fostering an inclusive environment and providing exceptional customer service.

Patron Services hosts volunteer orientation and training sessions during August and also at the beginning of each calendar year. To be considered, please complete the online application.

Requirements and Information

Requirements include arriving before the event and staying shortly afterward to assist with front-of-house operations. In addition, volunteers must:

- Attend and complete annual orientation and training sessions;

- Be able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, read tickets, and navigate in a dark theater;

- Assist in the event of an emergency (training provided);

- Adhere to the dress code;

- Carry out duties as assigned, including (but not limited to) greeting, answering general questions about the venue, directing patrons, scanning tickets, ushering, stuffing/distributing playbills/programs, helping with lobby set up, coat check, concessions, and merchandise sales, as well as assisting patrons requiring special accommodations.

Nearly all communication with volunteers is conducted via email and our online scheduling system. Volunteers can review a calendar of events 2-3 weeks in advance and may request to work specific performances. The final schedule is determined by the patron services manager, with no guarantee that volunteers will be assigned to every requested shift/event.

Benefits

Benefits include the ability to see some (or most) of the assigned performance, have access to complimentary tickets on occasion, receive discounts on ticket purchases, and attend the annual volunteer appreciation event held at the end of each season.
