The West-Eastern Divan Ensemble

For the first time, Daniel Barenboim has hand-picked an ensemble made up of musicians from the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, which he and Edward Said founded in 1999. Comprised of Palestinian and Israeli musicians to discuss ideas on music, culture and humanity, this group addresses the urgent need for an alternative way to combat the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Led by concertmaster and solo violinist Michael Barenboim, the ensemble continues to spread the mission that opposing sides can build bridges that defy politics and encourage people to listen to the narrative of the other.
