Beethoven: Coriolan Overture

Beethoven: Triple Concerto

Beethoven: Symphony No. 6, Pastorale

Guest conductor Taeyoung Lee closes the VSO’s Beethoven celebration with a concert featuring VSO musicians Yun Zhang and Rebecca Gilmore Phillips and Sentara’s Music and Medicine resident musician, pianist Prisca Benoît. Beethoven’s daring and rarely performed Triple Concerto features the violin, cello and piano each as soloist, boldly showcasing the virtuosity of each musician. His warmest and perhaps most beloved symphony, the merry and expressive Symphony No. 6, Pastorale, fills listeners with happiness and wonder, with each movement mimicking an aspect of pastoral life, from gathering of country folk, to the murmuring brook, to the Shepherd’s song of Thanksgiving.
