“The Army of the Lord is Marching On” – 100th Year Anniversary of the Gospel Spreading Church
The Gospel Spreading Church, founded by the late Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux and his wife, Sister Mary Eliza Michaux in 1919, will be celebrating its Annual Baptismal Service, featuring the Famous “Happy Am I” Cross Choir. Since its inception in 1935, choir members have been recruited from New York City, NY to Kinston, NC. This year, the Famous “Happy Am I” Cross Choir will perform at the Ferguson Center for the Arts, in Newport News, VA. The choir will perform songs of praise and drills magnifying the name of the Lord. The choir is led by the “Happy Am I” Cross Choir Band marching to the song, “Onward Christian Soldiers” and performing with a drum major, wind and brass section, xylophones and a magnificent percussion ensemble.
Under the direction of Minster of Music, Deacon David Sturdivant, the choir will present a spirit-filled song and praise service. The service will conclude with the celebration of individuals being baptized! You don’t want to miss this event. All are welcome – FREE admission with a ticket!
